Sungha Ryu
Co-Founder and Pre-Competitive/Competitive Head Coach
Sungha Ryu has 37 years of coaching experience. He founded and opened J Dolphins in 2001 and has been teaching as Head coach ever since. He has taught many high-performance swimmers and has participated in two Olympic trials and led the team to awards and medals in multiple National and Provincial competitions. He is also serving as Head coach of the York University Varsity Swim Team and the Bayview Glen School Swim Team. With many coaching careers, he stands to teach anyone easily, quickly and accurately to reach a level of high performance.
Jinsook Ryu
Co-Founder and Learn to Swim & Dream Team Head Coach
Jinsook Ryu holds nearly 35-yearlong coaching experience. A former Olympian in the Summer 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles representing South Korea, she co-founded J-Dolphins in 2001 and has provided various teaching skills and methods ever since. While her specialty is coaching new swimmers the basics of the sports, she has also coached International and High-Performance swimmers in the past to high degrees of success. She provides the next step from taking the beginner and making them superstars in the future.
Hochan Ryu
President, Pre-Competitive/Competitive Coach
A former National-Level swimmer of 20 years with over a decade of coaching experience, Hochan Ryu has lived and breathed swimming for as long as he can remember. A 2016 Olympic Trials finalist, 2-time OUA and 1-time USports record holder and member of multiple High-Performance Development teams with Canada, Hochan has provided swimmers skills ranging from the basics of the sport to the smallest details in competitive swimming. He always puts the swimmer's interest and dedication first and foremost in the practices.
Ciprian Tuca
Pre-Competitive/Competitive Coach
A former competitive swimmer turned coach, Ciprian Tuca has been coaching pre-competitive swimmers at J-Dolphins for over 8 years. He specializes primarily in back-crawl swim training, but his time as both a swimmer and instructor has allowed him to develop and provide a more varied skill set for competitive swimmers. He loves to see students improve and beat their own best times.
Deborah Kong
Learn to Swim and Dream Team Coach
A former competitive swimmer and all-around athlete from a young age until High School, Deborah Kong always had a love for the active sports community for as long as she can remember. She studied and graduated with an Early Child Education Degree and has also taught at YMCA teaching children how to swim for 1 year. It gives her so much joy to teach the students and see them improve and gain confidence in themselves.
